A Living Flame of Liberty Across Nations
The story of liberty in America is not only written in history, but also anchored in the spiritual destiny of nations. From the shores of France to the heart of the United States, the flame of liberty has been both a symbol and a living presence, guiding the evolution of freedom-loving people across generations.
It was the Goddess of Liberty who inspired the creation of the Statue of Liberty, given as a gift from the people of France to the United States and dedicated on October 28, 1886, on Bedloe’s Island. More than a monument of friendship, this act represented the spanning of a spiritual arc of liberty—from the Château de Liberté in France to the Temple of the Sun in the West. Through this connection, it was intended that souls reembodied at both gateways of the Atlantic would uphold the torch of liberty until a golden age could once again emerge, founded upon the balanced threefold flame within the hearts of humanity.
The Washington Monument: A Pillar of National Purpose
Standing at the center of the nation’s capital, the Washington Monument rises as a symbol of leadership, vision, and the founding spirit of America. Completed in 1884 and dedicated in 1885, this towering obelisk was built in honor of George Washington, the first president of the United States and a key figure in the establishment of the nation’s independence.
Constructed of marble, granite, and bluestone gneiss, the monument stands as the tallest stone structure in the world, reaching over 555 feet into the sky. Its design reflects both simplicity and strength, drawing inspiration from ancient obelisks that were traditionally associated with the anchoring of light and divine purpose. Positioned along the National Mall in Washington, D.C., it serves as a central axis in the nation’s capital, aligning with other significant monuments that reflect the ideals upon which the country was founded.
The Transfer of the Liberty Flame
Seventy-six years after the dedication of the Statue of Liberty, a spiritual event of profound significance was given in a dictation delivered in Washington, D.C., on September 30, 1962. In this message, the ascended master K-17 announced the transfer of a greater gift from France to America—this time not in the form of a statue, but as a living flame.
He described how, through the decision of Paul the Venetian, the full pulsation of the liberty flame was transferred from his retreat in France and permanently placed within the forcefield of the Washington Monument. This act represented a deepening of the original offering between the two nations, moving from outer symbol to inner spiritual reality.
The liberty flame, as described, was intended to bless the heart of America as a gift from the Brotherhood and from the heart of France. It was given as a treasure from the spiritual government of France to the spiritual government of America, carrying within it a greater magnetic power than the earlier gift of the Statue of Liberty.
A Flame That Lives Within the Nation
Unlike a physical monument, the liberty flame is described as a living spiritual presence—one that penetrates the structure of the Washington Monument and rises into the atmosphere above it. Its radiance is not confined to the visible world, but extends into the unseen, touching the consciousness of all who come within its sphere.
According to the teaching, those who visit the monument may receive its blessing, often without conscious awareness, as the pulsation of the flame works quietly within the heart. In this way, the Washington Monument becomes more than a historical landmark—it stands as a focal point for the anchoring of liberty within the spiritual fabric of the nation.
The Call to Hold the Flame
The connection between France and America, established through both the Statue of Liberty and the transfer of the liberty flame, reflects a deeper spiritual partnership. It is a reminder that liberty is not only preserved through institutions and history, but through the living light within each individual.
As students of the teachings, we are invited to recognize and uphold this flame—through prayer, decree, and conscious alignment with the divine purpose of freedom. The work of anchoring liberty continues, not only at monuments of stone, but within the hearts of those who choose to carry the light forward.
